Ringo Starr got it right when he said, “You know, it don’t come easy…”
One of Portland’s more durable and versatile blues-roots bands, The Reverb Brothers, is celebrating their 10th anniversary, and nothing came easy for them either. With all members born in the 1950s, The Reverbs have been around the block in music as well as in life. Most of them have been in and out of different bands for several decades.

September holds some noteworthy shows starting with a performance with Lisa Mann at Macadams on September 12th. The following evening I will be headlining the two day Grapes, Grains and Blues Festival in Longview, WA on the evening of Saturday, September 13th.
I’m also really excited about reuniting with …

So much more than just a blues act, their shows are filled with New Orleans charm, Memphis soul swagger, dark theatrical moments that evoke Kurt Weill, and tender gospel passages. Band leader Davina Sowers’ piano playing, voice and stage presence defy category in a different way. She has been compared to Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday and Betty Boop, but comparisons don’t suffice. Sowers is a true …
