The Crystal Ballroom Presents The Return Of The Devil Makes Three

The Devil Makes Three

The Devil Makes Three“The Devil Makes Three has a sound that is garagey ragtime, punkified blues, both old and new timey, without settling upon a particular era,” claims the band’s guitarist and vocalist Pete Bernhard.  Inspired as much by mountain music as by Preservation Hall jazz. The combination of Berhard alongside multi-instrumentalist Cooper McBean and bassist Lucia Turino could only have happened via the circuitous route each member took to forming the band. As kids in Vermont they were all raised by sort of “hippie” parents  who exposed them to folk, blues, and jug band music, and soon took the path to nearby Boston in search of punk rock shows. The band has made its bones with dynamic performances building exuberant rhythms from the inside out, wrapping finger-picked strings and up-surging harmonies around chugging acoustic guitar and bass, plying an ever-growing audience onto its feet to jump, shake and waltz.

The Devil Makes Three has been building raucous fan base in Portland with regular sold out appearances. They will be returning to town on Friday, November 10 for an 8:00 pm show at The Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside Street. This is an all ages show, with tickets available through Cascadetickets.com and at the door day of show both for $29.50. Opening the night will be sets by Scott H. Biram and the Ditrani Brothers.
