August 14, 2017 –
His music is deeply rooted in traditional blues, yet at the same time fiercely original. His guitar playing earns labels like "fearless," "inventive" and "powerful," and he routinely brings audiences to their feet with his stunning and emotionally honest vocal delivery. Ben is as much home fronting his electric blues band as he is captivating a crowd solo with nothing but his voice and his resonator guitar.Blues Dance! Julie Amici, Mitch Kashmar, Ben Rice, And Dean Mueller
August 14, 2017 –
Four of the areas most respected and exciting blues musicians, Julie Amici, Mitch Kashmar, Ben Rice, and Dean Mueller, will be performing together in the intimate setting of the Lake Theater on Monday, August 14th. For this show, the theater will be clearing space up front for dancing, and the music will be geared more for dancers. This is a rare opportunity to see this group perform together as they are usually out fronting their own bands. These four musicians will be mixing it up all night in what is sure to be a creative and intimate one-time performance.
Julie Amici has been a rising star in the Portland Blues scene for a couple of years. She was nominated for Muddy Awards in 2015 and 2016 and recently won the Journey To Memphis Solo/duo competition to earn the honor to represent the CBA at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis January 2018. West Coast harmonica player Mitch Kashmar (1960/Santa Barbara, CA - ) is one of the California disciples who soaked up the sound and the soul of Chicago and Mississippi and Cali-customized it. His theory is the California harp scene started with Arkansas native George "Harmonica" Smith, who settled in L.A. soon after leaving Muddy Waters' band. "Rod got some of it and Kim Wilson got some," Kashmar says of Smith's fat, rounded tones, which often sounded more like an entire horn section than a man with a harmonica. "I got some of it from them." Like Wilson, The Fabulous Thunderbirds singer and harmonica legend, Kashmar grew up in Santa Barbara. " would come back at holiday time, climb down from the T-Birds and play gigs with us," says Kashmar, who played with Wilson in 1981 while the T-Birds were recording Butt Rockin'. "He's one of those guys who'll do it right up till it's over and then some."
Ben Rice is deeply rooted in traditional blues, yet at the same time fiercely original. His guitar playing earns labels like "fearless," "inventive" and "powerful," and he routinely brings audiences to their feet with his stunning and emotionally honest vocal delivery. Ben is as much home fronting his electric blues band as he is captivating a crowd solo with nothing but his voice and his resonator guitar.
Dean Mueller is a local icon, playing bass with legendary Duffy Bishop as well as being a founding member of the Insomniacs. Dean curates the Music Monday series and performs with Julie Amici across the region. The duo has been nominated for a Muddy Awards for Best New Act and Best Traditional Act and won the Journey To Memphis CBA competition.Tickets available online until 4 pm day of the show.Jesse Meade

"Oh, how that voice strums our heartstrings! Jesse Meade has long impressed crowds in our town (and a lot of other places) with his wondrous noodling and beautiful singing. Meade is both unforgettably mellow and a powerful performer who keeps the audience glued to the stage."
"He is Jesse Meade, and Eugene thinks he rocks."
