Curtis Salgado & Alan Hager Duo

Curtis Salgado & Alan Hager DuoMultiple Blues Music Award winner Curtis Salgado is a Northwest icon with a reputation for his high-intensity performances and a repertoire inspired by his encyclopedic knowledge of soul, blues and R&B music. Guitarist Alan Hager has also long been renowned as a master player throughout the Northwest and has been working with Salgado for the past decade, joining his band full-time in 2015. The pair released the acoustic album Rough Cut last year, something that the two of them had long been wanting to do. “He’s the best player in the business, unlike anybody else,” Salgado says of Hager. “One reason I made this record was to show him off.” It is what Hager calls “American Classic music.” “This type of music moves us the most,” says Salgado. “You believe it when you hear it.”

Charlie Parr

Charlie ParrMinnesota-based folk and blues artist Charlie Parr has released a new eponymous titled album that collects new songs and new studio versions of classics/audience favorites from throughout his career, featuring his trademark resonator and 12-string guitars.  It’s a musical reckoning that came after a freak accident less than a year ago, just a month following his debut performance at the Newport Folk Festival, that forced him to relearn how to play guitar, causing him to take stock of the songs he’s written over his lifetime. CHARLIE PARR is a stunning folk record that will surely stand the test of time, just like the man himself.

Lee Fields

Lee FieldsSoul music pours out of Lee Fields — as free and unstinting as God’s love. It has ever since the 1960s when he was a teenager in North Carolina sweating it out on juke joint stages, crumpled dollars hailing at his feet. It continues now that the living legend is in his late sixties, ushering in the most successful and fruitful period of his career. Today, he stands at the forefront of the soul revival, a bustling and ever-growing corner that has nourished the nutrient-starved waters of 21st century pop music with virtues it lacks: a sense of timelessness, of eternity, of a tradition extending backward into generations. He has been testifying, in the purest sense of the word, since Otis Redding was alive. He is living history.
