The Boogie Cat’s New Year’s Eve Ball will bring an evening full of fun with a performance by acoustic guitar master Mary Flower, a tribute to the music of Aretha Franklin and Billie Holliday by Lenanne Sylvester Miller, and then to top off the night, The Norman Sylvester Band ushering in the New Year. — North Portland Eagles Lodge, 7611 N Exeter, 8:00 pm. Karen Lovely will revive her Prohibition Blues show, with an opening set from Dante Zapata.  Also joining Karen for the show will be Ben Rice. The whole event will be geared toward the Prohibition era, with 1920’s era cocktails and music featured. If you’re in the Eugene area, Bill Rhoades has put together one of his outstanding  harmonica showcase  events with the New Years Eve Blues Harp Showdown. Bill will be joined by harp masters Mike Moothart, Hank Shreve, Kim Field and an all star band consisting of Henry Cooper, Newel Briggs, Byron Case, and Tim Seifert. — Mac’s Nightclub Ballroom, 1626 Willamette Street, Eugene, $15.00 advance at Macsnightclub.com, $20.00 day of show.
