In 1995, Jane Doe emerged from a need to put a Duo together overnight to play a last-minute gig. From that first gig, it was evident that Jane Doe was something special, an exciting combination of two veteran performers in the Pacific Northwest.
Sonny “Smokin” Hess is the lead guitar player and vocalist for The Sonny Hess Band. She was awarded Best Lead Guitar by the Cascade Blues Association. Sonny has performed, sung with and composed with many of the region’s top artists. For 25 years she has produced multiple specialty shows featuring the finest blues women in the Pacific Northwest. Sonny has been the driving force in making each show a standout, garnering national attention and rave reviews.
Ellen Whyte fronts the multi-award winning band, Ellen Whyte Ensemble. The Grammy-nominated Ellen is a rhythm guitarist and vocalist who was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall Of Fame in 2015 and in 2006, The Cascade Blues Association Hall Of Fame.
The Blues Alliance was formed by Pat Stilwell to bring to life his original blues and blues based rock songs, and to pay tribute to the greats of the electric blues. The group is proud to join the abundance of local NW talent bringing fresh energy and originality to the blues, and to be doing their part in keeping this great music alive.
The Blues Alliance is Pat Stilwell on guitar, vocals, and electric violin; Michael McGinty on keys; Kevin Kelley on bass and vocals; and Joe Trump on drums. The musical rap sheets for this line up could fill pages, with broad experience in performing, touring, and recording.
For the October CBA meeting, the Alliance will be playing tunes from Pat’s CD’s “Kaleidoscope” and “Tales From the Riverside”, and some brand new original tunes destined for the next recording project. For the full lowdown on the Blues Alliance, check out
