The Spare Room Hosts “Band Together”: A Fundraiser for Disaster Relief
Over the past year we have seen a lot of tragedies strike many people, including a number of blues musicians. Disasters such as fires and snow storms have caused several musicians to lose gigs and struck a financial blow to their pocketbooks. On Sunday, October 22, a fundraiser will be held that’ll place money into a fund to assist blues artists who are affected by such circumstances in the future. The Spare Room, 4830 NE 42nd will host this event that will feature music from Ben Rice, Rae Gordon, Kivett Bednar, LaRhonda Steele, Arietta Ward, and more who’ll be announced later. The host band behind them all will be two-time Blues Music Award winner Lisa Mann & Her Really Good Band.
Admission is $15.00 and reserved seats can be purchased in advance at Music Millennium or at the door day of event. Funds will also be earmarked for the 501(c)3 charity organization Shelter Box. This group is amongst the top 100 at Charity Navigator, providing shelter boxes including tents, blankets, solar lights, and survival equipment for disasters around the world. They are currently assisting those struggling in both Texas and Florida following the recent hurricanes.
Please make a point in attending this event for a fun-filled afternoon, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with music, an auction, raffles, food, drinks, friends, and the knowledge that you’re helping those in need.
