Hillstomp Schedules Hometown Show at Aladdin Theater
If you’ve spent any time around the Northwest Music Scene, the name Hillstomp should sound familiar to you. They’ve been making music for the past seventeen years and touring across America and Europe. Hillstomp is a two-man band — Henry Hill Kammerer and John Johnson. Henry plays guitar and banjo like a hurricane, and if you close your eyes you’d swear he’s simultaneously playing two parts. John Johnson beats mercilessly on his drum kit — often simply a bucket, brake drum, and broiler pan — with the fury of a demon unchained from hell. But once you get past the pure ferocity of his playing, you’ll note the intricately crafted patterns providing the framework for Kammerer’s guitar and banjo sorcery. This is folk music in its purest form — loud and gritty, intricate and poignant, and most importantly, always heartfelt and true.
Aladdin Theater, 3017 SE Milwaukie Ave. Friday, April 19 at 9:00 pm. $18.00 advance at Ticketfly.com, $20.00 day of show. All ages.
